
Main Street in downtown Greenville, South Carolina was the setting for a unique opportunity for fans in the Southeastern U.S. to enjoy a free, sneak peak at the sports car endurance racers from the American Le Mans Series just days before one of the top international races of the year, Road Atlanta’s Petit Le Mans.
The second annual Motorsports on Main was held on Main Street in downtown Greenville, on Thursday, September 22. Race cars, special displays, racing simulators, driver autographs, team merchandise, and more were all part of the scene. Best of all, admission was free.

Based upon the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans held each year in France, the 10 Hour/1,000 Mile Petit Le Mans will held at Road Atlanta near Braselton, GA on Saturday, October 1.

Next Stop for Corvette Racing – Main Street
Fresh from the GT class victory at the 2011 running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the fabled Corvette Racing team will return to Motorsports on Main on Thursday, September 22, 2011.
“There was no question about returning for Motorsports on Main,” said Doug Fehan, program manager Corvette Racing. “The inaugural Motorsports on Main was truly an outstanding event. We were able to meet so many fans and spend time that we just don’t have on a race weekend. We can’t await to do it again.”
Flying Lizard Porsche to make Motorsports on Main debut

One of the most popular teams in sports car racing worldwide, Flying Lizard Motorsports will make its first appearance at Motorsports on Main in style.
The Sonoma based team will feature a Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with a special graphic design.
The colorful commemorative livery created by California based artist Troy Lee celebrates the history of Porsche at Le Mans starting with drivers Hans Hermann and Richard Atwoord who secured the first overall victory at Le Mans for Porsche.
“The philosophy of our team is to be accessible to the fans and Motorsports on Main provides a great opportunity for us to meet new fans and invite everyone to be a Lizard,” said Flying Lizard Motorsports Vice president Jennifer Hart.
Flying Lizard Porsche drivers have captured the ALMS GT championship in each of the past three years.
Muscle Milk Aston Martin on its way!
The Muscle Milk Aston Martin prototype, winner of four American Le Mans Series events in 2011 is on its way to Greenville for the second Motorsports on Main.
Winners at Long Beach, Mosport, Road America, and Mid Ohio, the crisp white, red and black V12 powered coupe is headed directly to Greenville from Monterey, Calif. site of last Saturday’s six-hour ALMS race.
“Motorsports on Main is the only event of its kind for the ALMS teams,” said team spokesperson Karina Redmond. “We met a lot of fans and made a lot of friends in Greenville last year and are looking forward to seeing everyone at Motorsports on Main this Thursday.”
In addition to giving fans an up close look at its racecar, the team will also be handing out Muscle Milk and Mighty Milk – a version of its protein drink for kids – for all to try.
BMW to Celebrate at Motorsports on Main
The only thing better than winning championships is sharing the celebration with your friends and family. Having clinched the 2011 American Le Mans Series team and driver championships, BMW will do just that at Motorsports on Main in Greenville.

Bill Auberlen, one the most popular drivers in BMW’s storied motorsports history with more than 285 starts in a BMW racing car, will be on hand at Motorsports on Main to help celebrate with fans and BMW associates from BMW’s North American Manufacturing in nearby Spartanburg.
Auberlen, of Redondo Beach, Calif., will be meeting fans and signing autographs at the BMW display on Main Street. The display will also include a racing simulator and two significant BMW racing cars from past years, a BMW CSL and V12 LMR.
